Therapeutic Art Instruction

RAIN Art Activity

Clients learned about R.A.I.N. (Recognize what’s going on. Allow the experience to be there just as it is. Investigate with kindness. Natural awareness, which comes from not identifying with the experience.) and created images depicting a storm in their lives.

Gratitude Garland

Clients wrote what they were grateful for on slips of paper that were then stapled together into a chain to create a festive garland for the Thanksgiving season.

Client Group Artwork

Clients worked together to create pops of confetti representing things that brought them joy.

Growth Exercise

In this exercise we talked about ourselves as leaves on a tree going through different seasons of growth.

teaching philosophy

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is a transformative process that has the power to change lives. As an educator, I see my role as a facilitator of this process, creating a learning environment that empowers students to develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

In my classroom, I strive to create an environment that encourages creativity and emotional intelligence. This means providing opportunities for students to express themselves, take risks, and think outside the box. Every student has the potential to be creative. My role as an educator is to help them unlock that potential. I encourage active participation and collaboration, providing opportunities for students to work together to solve problems and explore new ideas. By working together, students can develop a deeper understanding of the material and build stronger connections with each other.

Every student is unique and brings their own experiences and perspectives to the classroom. As such, I strive to create an inclusive learning environment that respects and celebrates diversity. By acknowledging and valuing each student's individuality, we can create a more meaningful and engaging learning experience for everyone.

I also believe that education should be relevant and applicable to students' lives. To this end, I strive to connect course content to real-world issues and encourage students to apply what they have learned to their own lives and communities. By making learning meaningful and relevant, I hope to inspire students to become lifelong learners.

I believe that education should be a joyful and fulfilling experience. Learning should be a source of inspiration and motivation, not just a means to an end. I strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment that celebrates the joy of discovery and fosters a lifelong love of learning.

Ultimately, I aim to help students become more confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals equipped to succeed in their chosen paths. By fostering creativity and emotional intelligence in the classroom, we can help our students become more fulfilled and successful in all areas of their lives.
